How it works, in three steps
Pick the size that fits each nail, press the strip down towards the sides and file off the edge.
Open the heart, slide four fingers under the lights and let it do its thing for 60 seconds. Then your thumbs.
One more 60 seconds under the lamp and your manicure is done. That is how it stays put for 14+ days.
Why curing really matters
Our gel nail strips are semi-cured. They come out of the factory half cured, which is what keeps them flexible enough to apply. The lamp is what makes the layer properly hard. Skip that step and the gel stays soft, so you see wear along the edges within a few days.

Are nail lamps safe?
This is the question we get most. We are not going to promise you zero. We tell you exactly what it is and how long it takes, so you can decide for yourself.
What kind of light is it?
Every nail lamp cures gel with UV-A light. This one does, and so does the one at the salon. The difference is how strong and how long. Our lamp is 9 watts at most, a salon lamp is often 24 to 54.
How often and how long?
60 seconds at a time. A whole manicure adds up to 4 minutes at most, once every 2 to 3 weeks. At the salon every layer is cured separately, base, colour, colour and top coat, so your hand sits under the lamp far more often and far longer.
Want to be extra careful?
Put sunscreen on your hands first or wear fingerless gloves, and do not look straight into the light. If you take medication that makes you sensitive to light, check with your doctor first.
What does the research say?
In 2023 Nature Communications published the study everyone refers to. Researchers at the University of California San Diego put cultured skin cells under a 54 watt nail dryer for twenty minutes, and did that on three consecutive days as well. At that dose they saw damage to the DNA of those cells. One important detail: these were cells in a dish, not people, and it was not shown that a manicure gives you cancer.

How long does the battery last?
One hour of charging over USB-C is enough for three to five full manicures. After that you hang it back on the cable. You can also use it while it charges.
Is this light bad for my skin?
It is an LED lamp of 9 watts at most and your nails sit under it for 60 seconds, once per manicure. That is a lot shorter than a salon gel session. We explain it in full above, see Are nail lamps safe?
Can I take the lamp on a plane?
Yes, but in your hand luggage and not in your checked bag. It has a rechargeable battery, and that rule applies with every airline.
Does it work on toenails?
It can, but you hold the heart in place yourself. If you do your toenails often, the Mini LED Lamp is easier, because it stands on its own.
How many fingers fit at once?
Four. Then you do your thumbs separately, also 60 seconds. The heart fits in your palm, and that is exactly the trade you make for going cordless.
Does it work with every Maniac design?

Do I still need it if I already have a Mini LED Lamp?
No. Both lamps cure just as well. The difference is cordless against staying on the cable, plus the countdown on the display. The comparison is right above.
How do I clean it?
A damp cloth over the inside is enough. Keep acetone off the plastic, it turns the finish dull.
