Dear Maniacs,

This month Maniac turns 4, and I am celebrating that with a letter. From me, to all of you.

Four years ago it all began. I was pregnant with my second son and wanted to feel beautiful and cared for, so I went to the nail salon. But something felt off. Those chemical fumes. What is this doing to my baby? That is when I thought: there has to be a better way. Beautiful nails should be within reach for every woman. I searched the whole world for products that make having a gorgeous manicure completely hassle free. I ended up in Korea, a country far ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to cosmetics. Gel polish stickers were already huge there. I quit my job and started Maniac. To this day I could not be happier that I did.

Four years later I still stand behind that step completely. What went incredibly fast in the beginning has now grown into a truly professional company. There are sixteen of us working on Maniac now, making sure you can always have easy, beautiful manicures. Together we have made over a million nails shine. Sometimes it all comes together effortlessly, when everything clicks: the products, you telling your friends about us. That is when Maniac works. But being an entrepreneur also means pushing through, working late, working on holiday. I still love every bit of it, especially when your happy reactions come in. Or when I meet someone wearing Maniac who tells me exactly why it is so good. The community that has grown makes me proud. And I am grateful for the people I work with, because I could not do this alone.

And above all, I want to thank you for your trust. This year we are going to grow our community even further and take Maniac international, beyond the Benelux. We cannot wait!
