Even though my grandmother and I never really had a strong emotional bond - she was known for her strict nature - I always cherish a deep respect for her. Confidence, strength and perseverance are traits I first learned from her. She exuded determination and was direct in her approach. She was not here to be your friend; she was here to teach you valuable life lessons. Although I struggled with that at times during her life, I am grateful now for the unconventional but valuable lessons she taught me.
